Use ReconcileIQ from Claude or ChatGPT

Connect your ReconcileIQ account to an AI assistant and work on your books from a conversation: ask what the numbers say, make bookkeeping changes that are always previewed before anything is written, and run CodeIQ coding against the accounting platform your client already uses.

Connect in Claude

  1. In Claude on the web or desktop, open Customize, then Connectors.
  2. Choose Add custom connector, name it ReconcileIQ, paste the address above and add it.
  3. Select Connect. A ReconcileIQ page opens: sign in, choose which organisations the connection may use and what it may do, then allow it.
  4. In a chat, turn the connector on from + > Connectors and ask a question about your books.

Any Claude plan can add a custom connector. On a Team or Enterprise plan an owner may need to allow custom connectors for the organisation first.

Connect in ChatGPT

  1. In ChatGPT on the web, open Settings, then Apps & Connectors, then Advanced settings, and turn on Developer mode.
  2. Back in Apps & Connectors, choose Create. Name it ReconcileIQ, paste the address above, choose OAuth as the authentication and create it.
  3. Sign in on the ReconcileIQ page that opens, choose the organisations and permissions, and allow it.
  4. Start a chat, add ReconcileIQ from the tools menu, and ask a question about your books.

OpenAI makes developer mode available on Plus, Pro, Business, Enterprise and Education accounts. Menu names in ChatGPT change from time to time; the address and the sign-in step do not.

Claude Code and other MCP clients

Any client that speaks the Model Context Protocol over streamable HTTP can connect. Clients that support OAuth sign in exactly as above. For Claude Code:

claude mcp add --transport http reconcileiq https://api.reconcileiq.com/mcp

Scripted clients can send an API key in the Authorization header instead. The developer reference covers keys, scopes and the full tool list.

What you are asked to allow

The sign-in page is ours, not the assistant's, and it shows exactly who is asking and for what. You choose the organisations the connection may touch, and each permission separately:

PermissionWhat it allows
ReadSee your customers, suppliers, invoices, bank transactions and reports. Nothing is changed.
ChangeCreate and edit records and post to your ledger, always previewed first and carried out only when you confirm the preview.
SendEmail invoices and statements to your customers and suppliers. Kept separate because a sent email cannot be recalled.
CodeRun CodeIQ over bank transactions against a connected platform and post the result back once you approve it. Uses credits.
ReconcileRun Bank Reconciler reconciliations. Uses credits.

Things to ask

What it will never do

Every change is two steps. The assistant first asks for a plan, which shows what would happen and writes nothing. Only after you have seen the plan and agreed does it carry out that exact plan, once. Some things are not available through the connector at all, by design:

Every call the connector makes is logged against your account, and the assistant can show you that log for any set of books.

Disconnecting

Remove ReconcileIQ from your assistant's connector settings at any time. An unused connection lapses on its own after 60 days, and you can end it straight away from Connected apps in your ReconcileIQ account.

Your data

When you use the connector, the answers to your assistant's requests are sent to the assistant you chose, and that provider handles them under your own agreement with it. Work started from an assistant is handled exactly as the same work done in the app. The privacy policy covers this in full.

Help

Email [email protected] or use the contact page. If a tool call failed, include the time and what you asked, and we can find it in the log.
